The future

Prepare children for future

One of the sentence that comes up quite often when we speak about the schools we create is this surprising statement :”But by overindulging children like this, you do not help them prepare for the difficulty of life!”. Then, we smile as a courtesy and because of exasperation. We smile not to scream. “Difficulty of life”, what an educative schedule!

Because we fear to create spoiled children, we would need to rush our students. Make their everyday life dull in order to stop them from thinking that life on earth is too joyful, too sweet, too pleasurable, too beautiful. Our aim would be to toughen up them, to arm them, to train them to fight. What a curious vision…And especially, what pain hides behind such an intention?

In order to reply, we try to explain than either to prepare them to difficulty, we prepare them for love. For the laborious process of self-love, of others, of future. That we give them a gaze of trust and that it is probably one of the only admissible arm. With an abundant heart and sturdy trust, we are capable of everything.

We want to make them grow in an other world, a better one, a peaceful one. The one where softness calls softness, where alterity is a chance, where ideas are not pipe dreams, where humiliation is not an option. We want to wrap them in tenderness and hope. To prepare them for the best. To avoid the worst.
